FEMALE-FOCUSED PODCASTS
My Mum Says My Memoir is a Lie by Rosie Waterland
This is a super interesting podcast that I’m calling a “she said, she said” story. In 2015, Rosie Waterland published a memoir called "The Anti-Cool Girl” about growing up with mentally ill, drug and alcohol addicted parents, child protection, foster care, caravans and couches. In 2016, Rosie’s mother finally got sober and read the book. She says it’s all a lie. The podcast goes through each chapter of the book from both women’s perspectives.
Deliberations by Chelsea Cox
Link: Deliberations Website
The topic of this podcast isn’t female-focused but it is created by a kick-ass female creator and entrepreneur. Each season Chelsea creates a fictionalized but authentic criminal trial and employs actors to become a real jury for the case. The intention of the podcast is to show how a real jury comes to decisions and the expose the issues it presents in our legal system. It’s the first semi-scripted fictional legal podcast. Season 2, released last month, explores a rape case based on a he said/she said scenario.
